Gender Alliance
NWGA offers a variety of activities in a safe, supportive, and comfortable environment for members, spouses, and friends to socialize with each other. Some activities are private and protected while others are more public. Participants are able to select activities that match their own levels of experience, self-confidence, and comfort. We welcome suggestions and proposals for new activities to meet the needs of our changing membership.

Regular monthly member dinner meetings and Saturday socials provide opportunities for members and prospective members to meet and socialize. Often a portion of a meeting is set aside for a demonstration, discussion, or workshop on a variety of topics related to gender expression.

Special activities include dinners, shopping trips, nightclub outings, barbecues, holiday parties, beach retreats, and an annual awards dinner.

NWGA is a co-sponsor of Esprit (www.espritconf.com), an annual transgender convention for the CD and TS community, as well as their partners and spouses.

NWGA members are often called upon to speak at colleges and churches and to participate in conferences related to gender expression, gender identity, and human sexuality. Members also participate in community groups that deal with human rights and sexual minority issues. This has even included an NWGA member on the City of Portland Police Chief Forum.

The monthly NWGA newsletter, Northwest Passages, contains articles about club activities, a schedule of NWGA events and advertised services that welcome the transgender community.

Another method used to share information is the NWGA Yahoo Group, which gives members a forum for discussing issues and notifying members of event schedules.
